EAPS 2022 congress took place in Barcelona, Spain on 7th-11th of October, it has been held as the joint event of the European Academy of Paediatrics (EAP), the European Society for Paediatric Research (ESPR) and the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC).

Thanks to the support of the EAP board and Ukrainian Academy of Pediatric Specialties, the group of Ukrainian doctors managed to visit the congress. EAP had awarded travel grants that covered costs of traveling to Barcelona and back and had waived the participation fee for our doctors. Ukrainian delegation members not only participated as listeners but also as chairwomen of oral and poster sessions and speakers, and also raised awareness about consequences of the war in Ukraine for the social, physical and mental health of our children.

One of the delegation members, pediatric geneticist and orphan diseases specialist, Nataliia Samonenko presented her speech ‘Experience of conducting specific treatment for patients with lysosomal storage diseases in Ukraine during hostilities’ during the orphan diseases session.
